With its current conservation status, At Risk - Naturally Uncommon, the Cook Strait Kowhai is only found around cook strait and its islands. Small, wide often wider than high shrub with the iconic yellow flowers in late winter
Unlike other kowhai species, the cook strait kowhai retains its leaves all year round.
